The Four Gates offers workshops, healings, shamanic plant diets, journeys to Peru and Mexico to work with indigenous shamans, encounters with teacher plants, and other events to bring you healing, empowerment, new consciousness, and get you back in touch with your soul.
Our Testimonials vouch for the fact that our workshops and healings are useful and effective (even “profound” and “amazing”) but we are the first to admit that they may not be to everyone’s taste. There are no fluffy new age concepts or fabricated ‘ancient and arcane traditions’ as part of our training.
Our courses are based instead on integrity, honesty, years of real front-line healing practice, and wide-ranging experience with genuine shamans from known and verifiable traditions.
If you’re after a new ‘power animal’, a ‘munay ki initiation’ or want to become a ‘bee maiden’ or a ‘core shaman’ you won’t get that from us.
We provide training in real shamanism and our workshops are grounded in fact not fiction.
Our quite different approach was highlighted in a cover story for Kindred Spirit magazine where Ross Heaven (the principal Four Gates teacher) was referred to as “the straight-talking shaman”.
The interview which followed noted not only his breadth of knowledge and experience but his down-to-earth, no-bullshit style of teaching.
Because of this, some people may find our workshops challenging.
They do not rely on or repeat ‘received wisdom’, shamanic clichés, stale ideas or dogma but push the boundaries of what you thought to be true.
They are better suited therefore to individuals who are themselves thoughtful and challenging, who come with open minds and wish to experience real shamanism so they can become genuine shamans and healers themselves.
These are also the people we prefer to work with – seekers and healers who are dedicated shamans-to-be. We train shamans, not ‘shamanic practitioners’.
The About Ross section has more information, and if you have any questions about our courses just drop us a line.
We hope that you’ll choose to study with us.
